In the offseason of 1983, Geisel was chosen from the Seattle Mariners from Toronto in the rule 5 draft of 1983. Geisel pitched his last big league match on May 18th, 1985 at Seattle’s Kingdome winning against visitors Baltimore Orioles.
Geisel made his debut in the major leagues as a member of his team the Cubs the 13th of June, 1978 in Riverfront Stadium, pitching one relief innings in the game against Reds without the ability to allow an errant baserunner. In March 1982 Geisel was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays. Cubs exchanged Geisel for Toronto Blue Jays. Toronto Blue Jays to complete an earlier trade that saw the Cubs transferred a player to be later named to the Blue Jays for pitcher Paul Mirabella.
Geisel pitched for the entire or a portion of seven seasons, between 1978 and 1985, making 13 appearances in 131 games including all but 8 in relief.
