After several roles in independent dramas and films, he was recognized for his role as Jess Mariano in the Gilmore Girls television series from 2001 to 2006 and Peter Petrelli in the NBC Heroes series from 2006 to 2010. He played the role of Jack Pearson in the NBC television series This Is Us since 2016. Ventimiglia debuted on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and then in the short Fox series Opposite Sex in 2000. The the following role was played by Jess Mariano as Gilmore Girls, Richard Thorne in WB's The Bedford Diaries, a recurring role as Meg Pryor's love in NBC's American Dreams, and son of Rocky Balboa in episodes six and eight of the series Rocky, Rocky Balboa and Creed II. He played Peter Petrelli in NBC's Heroes film from 2006 to 2010, receiving nominations for Teen Choice, Saturn and People's Choice Awards.
